Our Proposal

Me, Steve and  22 of our friends were in Ft. Lauderdale for both of our 30th birthdays.  After we had eaten dinner on Saturday we decided that we all were going to go out to a club. So you know black folk (myself included) were slow poking around and taking our time. So Steve started telling people to hurry up and get dressed because we were going to take a group picture all together before we left. This is nothing out of the ordinary because we do that all the time every year...but what I didn't understand is why we were going to take it outside on the balcony of the house because clearly it was DARK outside at 11:00PM at night.

Well any who I started looking for the keys to the house and kept not getting dressed, so finally Bernadette (roommate from HU) was like I will bring all your stuff to your room and then you can look for the keys there without getting fussed at by Steve.  Soooo finally after still not finding the keys, I got dressed but one thing was missing, my makeup bag. Oh lawd Steve and I were going back and forth because I was like I can't take a picture without my makeup, and let me remind you they wouldn't let me go back downstairs to get it either. I was like "HECK"  yall are trippin... finally Ayasha (Bestest Friend) went and got it for me and I was like HUMPH (licking my tongue out) to Steve.

So finally everyone made it out to the deck and we started taking test pictures to make sure we were going to be able to see all these black folks in the dark. Well Steve leaves and said let me make sure everyone is out here. So I am fussing at Steve and whoever else was left in the house telling them to hurry the heck up.

The next thing I know my MOM and SISTER stepped out on the balcony (mind you they were downstairs which is why I couldn't get my makeup bag myself HA!) and I just started crying. Steve got down on one knee and we all went to laughing and screaming!  He had to ask like 2 times before I heard him...So finally it got quiet enough and he was like Baby I have asked you twice already this is the last time but "Will you Marry Me?" and I was like "WHATEVER MAN!"  (I have always wanted to say that.) People started laughing and talking again and then someone yells so did you say YES and I was like No Wait No Wait ask again (which I don't recall Steve asking again)... but of course I said YES YES YES!!!

Oh we had recently gone ring shopping on Monday,  January 12th  (which is nothing new because we have been ring shopping for the past 4 years hehe) and we left Atlanta on Wednesday, January 14th my birthday, so clearly he had already bought the ring by then. Interesting enough the whole year prior he mentioned that he would not do it in front of a big crowd of my friends because that is wayyyy to much pressure. So needless to say he really, really , surprised the hell out of me!

Yay, I love me some Steve Berry!!!!
